WAA welcomes new Program Manager!

In an effort to improve programming, WAA has recently hired Brian Smith as the WAA Program Manager. Brian will initially focus on all WAA recreational and competitive baseball and softball programs, camps and clinics.

Brian Smith has a Master’s degree in Sports Management from NIU, where he played baseball, as a pitcher and outfielder, and was a three-time team captain. Smith was a 2006 Northwood’s League all-star and led the Madison Mallard’s in wins in 2007. Brian was also named to the Mallards' All-Decade team in 2010 and pitched for the Joliet Slammers, of the Frontier League, in 2011-12. Coaching experience includes coaching for the Mallards in 2009, serving as pitching coach for the University of St. Francis in 2012 and for the Windy City ThunderBolt’s for the last three years. In addition, Brian has recently been named as the first manager of the new Northwood’s League baseball team out of Rockford, IL and will continue with the Wheatland Ducks, as the Director of Ducks Academy.

Look for exciting new opportunities this spring! All Baseball and Softball programs open for registration on January 6, 2016!
